Accelerated Physical Stability Testing

Overview

The most effective cost and time stability testing method is accelerated stability testing. Accelerated stability testing is based on the idea that products exposed to extreme temperatures will degrade at a faster rate than products exposed to standard (room temperature) temperatures. Alternatively, instead of accelerated stability testing, we could perform real-time stability testing. Instead of subjecting the product to extreme conditions, the product is observed at room temperature. These evaluations are directly equivalent to how the product will look when sold in a retail environment. In order to determine the shelf life of cosmetic and personal care products, stability testing must be performed on them. Products intended for room temperature storage may be subjected to accelerated or real-time stability testing.
