Overview

The detachable dissolvable microneedle (DDM) is a rapidly evolving method of transdermal delivery of therapeutic compounds. Dissolving microneedles have traditionally been manufactured by encapsulating drugs into biodegradable polymers. After penetrating the stratum corneum, the polymer forming the needle structure dissolves and releases the encapsulated drug. The application of dissolving microneedles involves a one-step method since the microneedles are not removed after application. In fact, the DDM can even be made entirely from the therapeutic agent itself, thereby eliminating the need for additional excipients.

Dissolution Microneedle Fabrication Services

Most DDMs are prepared by micro casting or micro-molding, in which a solution, slurry, or suspension of the material is filled (usually using centrifugation or vacuum) into a microneedle mold, allowed to dry, harden, and then removed from the mold. Daji Belle dealers have investigated alternative preparation methods, including modifications to the micro molding technique to avoid the need for centrifugation or vacuum steps.
